At the beginning of this year I started working closely with one of the most reputable families in the beef business in Ontario.
As you all know, I have a passion for supporting ‘eat local’ initiatives & businesses who care about what they do and how they do it. Family businesses that go above and beyond self to produce amazing, healthy & delicious food.
It was great to receive the invite to visit the Enright Cattle Co. farm this past Saturday to see exactly how they breed and raise the best beef I have eaten since my arrival here in the Capital.
With the kids in tow, my wife and I enjoyed visiting the different stations including new calves, the feed, the rotational feeding pastures, the designer leather products and also trying out 3 fantastic creations using their beef!
Kara and Darold also believe in supporting local businesses and I had the pleasure to try out Burger Revolution‘s beef creations for this special event which included a beautiful soft shell taco with pulled beef, a lettuce wrap with smoked beef slices and a beautiful steamed bao with grilled beef! If you are in Belleville be sure to check them out.
We also got to try some local beverages and meet some amazing people making wine and beer in the area.
The Grange of Prince Edward Vineyards & Estate Winery who offered up three varieties of their wines made exclusively of grapes from their estate allowing the wines to reflect on the region and having their own flare.
The MacKinnon Brothers Brewing Company originate from a family farm in Bath, ON and have over 200 years of farming heritage. They use hops, wheat and barley grown right on their own farm to produce a wide range of beautiful craft beer.
All in all this fun-filled day was a gathering of beautiful local people making and producing out of this world product, right in our backyard.
The Enright’s truly put the Local in ‘Eat Local’ and I invite you try their beef – you will not be disappointed!
You can order their beef online at EnrightCattleCompany.com, try it at some of the best restaurants in Ontario, or if you are in Ottawa, visit my favourite and most trusted butcher, Andrew Muckleston at Muckleston & Brockwell Butchery.
