Canada’s Great Kitchen Party Toronto is proud to announce the line-up of Chefs for our regional culinary competition, which will be held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel on Friday, October 21, 2022.
KP Toronto, presented by MNP, will be the third installment in a series of competitions held in eight cities, from St. John’s, NL, to Vancouver, BC. These regional competitions will end in late November 2022, with each region’s gold medal-winning chef qualifying for the Canadian Culinary Championship in Ottawa, February 3-4, 2023.
The Chefs selected to compete this year in Canada’s Great Kitchen Party Toronto regional competition on October 21 are Frank Parhizgar, FK; Hemant Bhagwani, Popa; Jesse Vallins, Barbarian’s; Jon Turner, Reign (Fairmont Royal York Hotel); Lorenzo Loseto, George; Nitesh Rohra, Capra’s Kitchen; Sebastian Perez, Isabelle (The Pearle Hotel & Spa).
“The last time a Toronto Chef won the Canadian Culinary Championship was in 2014”, said Toronto Co-Chair John Hughes. “There will be 100 best chefs from nine regions competing for the Canadian Culinary Championship, but we are very excited about the talent representing Toronto, each committed to taking home the gold.”
Canada’s Great Kitchen Party features each city’s best chefs in this unique culinary competition. Guests in Toronto will be inspired by the stories of Canada’s elite athletes; they will sing and dance to the iconic Canadian Hall of Fame and JUNO award-winning band, CHILLIWACK, featuring charismatic frontman Bill Henderson. Chilliwack will perform their hits, including My Girl, Fly at Night, Crazy Talk, and many more! Additional entertainment includes multi–JUNO Nominated Blues Rock and Roller, Terra Lightfoot, Juno Nominated Devin Cuddy and the charismatic Sam Polley!
“We are incredibly excited to have KP Toronto return after taking a two-year hiatus,” said Toronto Co-Chair Brian McComb. “Having the support of partners like MNP brings on significant meaning as their support will help make our return to this unique in-person event a true epicurean success.”
On October 21, the city will unite to ensure Canadian youth have opportunities to enjoy sport and play, have music in their lives and learn how to grow, prepare, and cook healthy food.
Karen Blair, COO of Canada’s Great Kitchen Party, speaks of the organization’s contributions to various organizations. “Over 17 million dollars have been raised during the past 16 years”, she says, “and we are proud to continue to provide Canadian youth with the opportunity to be extraordinary in sport, music, and food through the beneficiaries that our events support. This year we are supporting MusiCounts – which ensures that music education is inclusive, sustainable, and accessible for youth across Canada and our new beneficiary: Spirit North, an organization that uses land and water-based activities to improve the health and well-being of Indigenous youth, empowering them to be unstoppable in sport, school, and life.”
